Workshop: AI for the Next Generation: Realising an Inclusive Vision for Scottish AI

SUMMARY

The aim of the workshop is to engage with participants to think collaboratively about how to operationalise a high-level vision for AI that can truly serve a broad and diverse Scottish public.

This workshop, organised by the Centre for Technomoral Futures (CTMF) at the University of Edinburgh, aims to elaborate and build upon a series of prior meetings centering diverse and underrepresented perspectives and aimed at creating a shared vision for AI futures for the next generation. CTMF is holding three “New Perspectives on AI Futures” workshops in January and February 2023, which will have as a concrete output a series of provocations made up of fresh ideas, questions, and visions for AI, including realistic policy objectives. In turn, these provocations will be presented to AI thought leaders and policymakers at an event in early March 2023, which features several high-profile participants, for their response and feedback.

Our agenda for the Scottish AI Summit is to present the set of provocations and the feedback it receives at the March AI Futures event for an interactive discussion on what steps need to be taken now to facilitate the realisation of this inclusive vision for AI.
