Panel Session: Your Care, Your Future: The Role and Perception of AI in healthcare

SUMMARY

People are living longer, and they accumulate many chronic conditions presenting challenges in delivering the right care at the right time. Join our interactive discussion and explore the usefulness of AI to improve quality of life in the future and the questions that arise from using these technologies in our daily lives.

Based on interdisciplinary, innovative, and person-centred healthcare research led by University of Edinburgh’s Advanced Care Research Centre (ACRC) our conversation will bring together knowledge from lived experience, data science, engineering, AI and healthcare to demystify some of the healthcare issues surrounding aging and the possible technological solutions.

We will focus on factors including living with multiple long-term conditions at once (multimorbidity) leading to using many medications at once (polypharmacy). These conditions present threats to public health including increased mortality, poorer quality of life, and greater economic burden. Join our conversation, exploring if AI could provide guidance and solutions.

Results and discussion elements from our hands-on workshop with the public, Your Care, Your Future: A Creative Exploration will also form part of the conversation.
